Toward a More Sustainable and Animal-Welfare-Oriented Supply Chain

Toward a More Sustainable and Animal-Welfare-Oriented Supply Chain

We continue to move forward with our goal of sourcing only fresh shell eggs from cage-free hens by the end of 2025, promoting a more sustainable supply model that respects animal welfare. Currently, 37.6% of the eggs we use come from this source. The initiative has already been implemented a 100% in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay.

Cage-free eggs come from a production system that prioritizes the welfare and health of laying hens, ensuring an environment where they can express their natural behavior, in a controlled, safe, and balanced setting. This system gives hens greater freedom and space in open areas, with access to nests, resting zones, and stimuli, among other features.

This transition reflects our commitment to the highest standards of animal welfare. We continue to work closely with animal behavior experts, suppliers, and small local producers across all the markets where we operate, driving positive change in egg production throughout the region.
