From now on 30% of the energy we use in our restaurants in Argentina will come from renewable sources
We are taking significant steps to build a greener future together. That is why we are proud to announce that we have signed an agreement with PCR (Petroquímica Comodoro Rivadavia), an Argentine company specialized in renewable energies. The incorporation of this new alliance, along with the one established with Pampa Energía, will allow close to 30% of the electric energy of our restaurants in the country to be sourced from renewable sources.
“At Arcos Dorados, we are committed to providing concrete solutions to the needs of society and the planet: from the products we work with to the energy we consume in our restaurants. Thanks to the agreement we have made with PCR, and in line with our environmental objectives, we are adding new wind energy that will allow close to 30% of the energy in our restaurants to be renewable”, says Eduardo Lopardo, General Director at Arcos Dorados Argentina.
Through this alliance, we will receive 60,000 Mega Watts-hour supplied by PCR’s wind farms: Vivorata and Mataco III; the latter being an expansion of Mataco-San Jorge, the largest wind farm located in Tornquist, Buenos Aires, the largest in the province. The renewable energy provided to the operation of our McDonald’s in Argentina is equivalent to the energy consumption of 17,000 homes per year.
In 2021, and thanks to the agreement with the company Pampa Energía, we became the first company in Argentina’s sector to begin the transition of its energy matrix. In this context, and with the goal of achieving 50% renewable energy in our regional operation by 2025, we will continue to generate new agreements to contribute to the reduction of our carbon footprint and generate positive impacts in the region.
