In partnership with Volvo Car Brazil, we have installed new electric vehicle charging points at our restaurants
We kick off 2024 with exciting news! Strengthening our commitment to the environment, and joining other countries such as Argentina and Chile, in Brazil we are providing greater convenience to our customers with electric cars, encouraging the use of these vehicles. This innovative partnership with Volvo Car Brazil aims to install new charging points in our restaurants, starting with 35 units across the country and with the expectation of reaching up to 100 McDonald’s locations by the end of 2025.
The first units to receive the electric chargers are in the cities of São Paulo and Mairiporã: three at the most sustainable McDonald’s in Latin America, at 307 Bernardino de Campos Avenue, one at the restaurant on 1201 Juscelino Kubitscheck Avenue, and two new ones in the city of Mairiporã – at 42 Tabelião Passarela Avenue. The available chargers vary in power from 7.4kw to 22kw, providing convenient charging for hybrid and electric cars users.
Marie Tarrisse, Senior Manager of Social Impact and Sustainable Development at Arcos Dorados, explains that the initiative is related to the purposes of the Recipe of the Future. “We are working to add more and more sustainable solutions to our operations, and offering services in line with these values is also part of the plan. The growth in the use of electric vehicles shows that the population is committed to the fight against climate change and can now count on McDonald’s on this path,” she says.
According to Marie, having electric car charging points at restaurants is part of the strategy to encourage sustainable habits among customers. “We want to invite them to be part of this change by encouraging recycling in restaurants and at home, the use of clean transportation such as bicycles, e-waste collection points and much more.” Marie explains that these actions align with our main commitments, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions. “It’s an opportunity for consumers to learn about advances such as the reduction in the use of plastic packaging and to know that more than 70% of our restaurants are powered by energy from renewable sources,” she says.
